It has been awhile since I had a new computer -- I think I would like a laptop.
No I do not think you had told us Oogy. That will give you time to save up a little money and get settled in.
I am sorry it is not what you want but I would imagine that you have thought it through !
A new laptop -- yeaaaaaaaa Oogy -- that is great -- you have been talking about wanting one for quite awhile now. I hope it is quick in arriving -- I look forward to hearing more from you ! However I must admit to be using Wii you have really done a good job of posting.
I have no news -- I was taking this time to cool off after being outside -- wow it is hot and sticky out there -- I am thinking fall weather -- soon I hope -- but at least it is not dry like usually is and we are into August so
I suppose I can deal :) ( like I have a choice )
So Logan -- I take it you do not like Vista -- HR has said he does not want it.

Good morning and we have a brand new week -- make it a very good one !
So summer vacations are almost over -- everyone will be heading back to school -- except me of course and for this semester Oogy -- I do hope with your new computer Oogy you will be back to all of your online activities !
I did get Bib Brain Academy -- it is rather fun and probably good for an oldster like me.

Hello all,
I hope that you enjoy your new laptop Oogy. In regards to Windows Vista, I actually like it a lot. I think the big pluses of Microsofts current operating system are the extra added security elements. I have XP running on my Laptop and Vista is installed on my main PC. I will say though that XP still very much holds it own in todays computing world so there is no real need to rush out and invest in Vista yet.

Hey everyone! I've got my laptop now, it came this afternoon, and I've been messing around with different settings and getting everything set up since then and just playing around with things. I've also got all my music moved over off my desktop.
So far, I really like Vista. I haven't found any reason not to like anything yet.
Hopefully this will mean not only that I'll be posting on here more again, but I should be able to start back to working on my blog, and some of my website stuff among other things. I also plan to use this to do a lot of my writing on.
Speaking of which, I think I'm going to try out the new Microsoft Office programs some now.

Just a pocket full of dreams
and a heart full of God.

That is good news indeed. You without online access does not seem right -- I am glad you could use the Wii
but it is limited. I will be checking my Oogy sites to see what is new now !
Yes -- "hopefully" you will be posting more here -- it is not the same without you.
I am glad you like Vista -- HR has just felt that it is not worth the investment since it does not provide that
much more and nothing that he really needs.
Welcome back to cyber space Oogy.

Good morning ;)
Yes LES, I don't care for Vista. The only experience I've had using it was for a day at work when we got new laptops. Oh yes, it looks very nice (more like Apple's OSX) and has some nice features (again, very much like Apple) but I spend quite a bit of time on that computer each day. I'm sure it's fine for new users, the interface might be a bit more intuitive (even though old users would have to relearn a few things) but what kept annoying me is that I couldn't find out how to do certain things. The icons for example were huge and I like things small and orderly so I spent about twenty minutes trying to find out how to make the icons smaller. Maybe I was looking in all the wrong places, or maybe that isn't even an option anymore.
The security program, at least what I saw, kept asking me over and over if I wanted to install something, was I sure (well, I did put in the CD and clicked "install" didn't I?) and then every time something wanted to connect to the Internet, it asked for confirmation on that as well.
The end result is, you can either turn the security off, or leave it on, there is no "minimal setting" that I could find. And I believe that if something like that is constantly popping up with "Confirm or deny" then "are you sure" that most users will get into the habit of clicking confirm all the time and it will kind of defeat the purpose.
Windows Media Player 10 seems to have taken out the option to play radio stations, because I can't find it anywhere.
So all in all, there were more features that were annoying for a "power user" like myself, than were beneficial. Oh, it's fun and I would have liked to toy around with some of the new options, and it's nice to look at, but when you need a lot of control over various parts of the system (for work) then Windows XP was so much better in my opinion. That, and apparently in order to run Windows Vista at full capacity, you need about 2 GB of RAM. It is something of a system hog.
So tell HR that I'm sticking with XP too, and I think that even if I did get a new computer, I'm not planning on getting Vista. It's fun, but at least for what I'm doing in Electrical Engineering, not very practical.
