About Me - March 2, 2005
I've had a lot of interests over the years, but there's no reason to go over all of them, that I'll save for a different web site. But there are only two real interests that I have: Web Design & J.R.R. Tolkien
- Web Design & Programming
- I first started in the winter of 2001, my brother had just started taking a HTML class on-line and I decided to join in. It was a fairly good start, but I really didn't understand it all at the time. As time went by and I kept making really bad personal sites, I would see something on other sites that I liked and figure out how they did it.
-
This went on until eventually, I figured out:
"Hey! I can use Tables to make my layout!"
So I started using tables to make the actual layout.
I was really bad at it at first, such as using individual
<TD>tags for my spacing between cells and for borders. - Well, eventually, I learned CSS and that's when everything finally clicked. I knew how Frames worked. I knew how to do so much more to my pages.
-
Recently, I've been doing quite a bit of image editing and design as well as working with the
<DIV>tag. I've progressed so much from when I first started, and now I'm hoping to expand my knowledge to PHP and SQL, as well as keeping up-to-date on W3C Standards. - J.R.R. Tolkien
- First of all, let me just say that I'm not relating this to the "Lord of the Rings" movies by Peter Jackson. In fact, (I'll expound) I actually do not especially like those movies and that has been the main point of a lot of my research.
- I first read The Lord of the Rings when I found out there was going to be a movie. (I read them before I watched it though) I immediately fell in love with Tolkien's universe called Eä, I continued to read those books as well as reading The Hobbit, (Which I loved) and The Silmarillion. (Which I didn't care for at first, but now it's so interesting and the depth is incredible)
-
I've also read
The Books of Lost Tales 1&2
and some of
Unfinished Tales.
As far as non-Eä related books go, I've read several of Tolkien's other publications including
Farmer Giles of Ham
and
Smith of Wooten Major.
I said before that the Movies have been basis for a lot of my research, well, that is true, but I've mostly studied the differences between the two. I am a firm believer that Peter Jackson didn't quite do the job he could have on the movies. - Don't get me wrong, the Cinematography was amazing, but they differed from the story so much as to make them impossible. I won't get into it now, but this is a topic I am fully prepared to go into great depth on.
